Fat Frank's: A Speakeasy with a Twist, Nob Hill Represented at Sunport, Water Authority Offers Handy Spring Service and More
Behind a Hidden Door in Nob Hill: Fat Frank’s Serves Gourmet Hot Dogs with a Side of 70s Glamour
No password required. Just generosity.

Guests approach a steel door hidden in an alley off Central and knock. After a brief pause, it slowly swings open, pulled by business partner Mike Lopez. Inside, there’s no whispered password or secret code required. Instead, visitors are greeted by a table stacked with donated goods—an alternative to the traditional speakeasy-style entrance ritual.
Each month, Fat Frank’s Speakeasy partners with a local nonprofit to collect much-needed goods and monetary donations. A guest’s “delivery”—the reservation confirmation—outlines the specific items required for entry. Currently, the nonprofit partners are Catholic Charities of New Mexico and the Transgender Resource Center and the required donation is hygiene products to be distributed in the community.
